GTA 6 release update: New Grand Theft Auto could be sooner than you think

One of the biggest mysteries in gaming is what Rockstar Games are planning to release next, and whether their RDR2 follow-up will be GTA 6 or not. Grand Theft Auto fans are currently enduring the longest wait ever for a new entry in the series, which currently stands at almost a six and a half years. GTA 5 first came out in 2013 before heading to the PS4 and Xbox One the following year, with Rockstar then launching Red Dead 2 in October 2018.

It was hoped that following the launch of RDR2 Rockstar Games would announce what their next project would be, and whether its a new Grand Theft Auto.

But 2019 came and went without a whiff of official news on whether Rockstar’s next blockbuster will be GTA 6 or not.

However, now we’re into 2020 Grand Theft Auto fans are hoping Rockstar Games will soon break their silence about the next title the devs are launching.

There are plenty of rumours surrounding GTA 6, with some rumours claiming it could launch in 2020.

The link between the two is that GTA 6 is rumoured to be set in Vice City, which is Rockstar’s fake version of Miami.

And, interestingly, the day after the Super Bowl was aired the website domain Take Two has purchased for GTA 6 was updated.

The news comes courtesy of the GTA 6 Reddit page who outlined this discovery.

The website whois.domaintools.com shows that GrandTheftAuto6.com was updated on February 3 – the day after the Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl 2020.

Fans were left wondering if this could be a sign a GTA 6 reveal is on the horizon.

However, while some fans have seen this as a sign a GTA 6 announcement could be coming soon, others are not convinced.

Among those in the latter camp were Redditors who pointed out other Rockstar Games websites were also updated on the same day.

One Redditor posted: “I just did some digging and it turns out that Bully2.com, MidnightClub2.com, GTAV.com, GtaIV.com and RockstarGames.com were also all updated on the same date Feb 3 2020”.

If those rumours about GTA 6 being a launch exclusive for the PS5 are true then we could find out more next month.

It was initially rumoured that the PS5 reveal event was taking place in February, but it is now believed this unveiling will happen in March.
