Mr Bloomberg pointed out that despite Mr Sanders being the “best known socialist” in the US he is a millionaire with three houses. Mr Sanders hit back explaining that other than the house he lives in he has a house for working in Washington and like “thousands of others” a summer home.
Mr Bloomberg said: “What a wonderful country we have the best-known socialist in the country happens to be a millionaire with three houses!
“What did I miss here?”
Mr Sanders replied: “Well you’ve missed that I work in Washington, house one.”
Mr Bloomberg interjected: “That’s the first problem.”

Mr Sanders continued: “I live in Burlington, House two.
“Like thousands of other Vermonters, I have a summer camp, forgive me for that.
“Where is your home?
“Which tax haven do you have your home.”
A third tweeted: “Having $2.5m at 78yo: unforgivable. Having $60b at 78yo: somehow great!
“Bloomberg got wrecked in this debate, dude. You’re done.”
CNN commentator Andrew Yang said regarding Mr Bloomberg’s performance in the debate: “I don’t think he was coached hard enough.
“The fact that he did not have those answers at his fingertips lets me know categorically he was not properly prepared for this debate.”
