The public turned on the President of the European Commission by claiming they should replace the organisation with robots, in a dig at the bloc. The topic of artificial intelligence has dominated the EU’s agenda in recent days with plans to step up its credibility and resources in the sector. On Twitter, von der Leyen wrote: “We want to boost European Artificial Intelligence that serve people and comply with peoples’ rights.”
The post was accompanied by a video.
The video said: “Today, the College adopted a whole package on our digital strategy: it is the White Paper for Artificial Intelligence and the Data Strategy.
“We want to boost European Artificial Intelligence by attracting more than EUR 20 billion per year.
“To create these European Union data space and cloud infrastructure, we want to trigger investments of EUR 4 to 6 billion.
“AI must serve people and therefore, AI must always comply with peoples’ rights.
“We want to encourage our businesses, our researchers, the innovators, the entrepreneurs to develop AI.
“And we want to encourage our citizens to feel confident to use it.
“We have to unleash this potential.”

“We can’t keep up with the US or China!
