Pop Smoke, a famous rapper, has been killed at the age of just 20. The incident which lead to his death appears to be a home invasion according to reports. But how exactly did the up and coming rapper die?
How did Pop Smoke die?
According to TMZ, the rapper was at his home in the Hollywood Hills at around 4.30am when two masked men wearing hoodies broke into the house.
Law enforcement officials told the publication, the two men fired multiple gunshots, striking and criticially wounding Pop Smoke.
The men were then seen fleeing the scene on foot.
Who is Pop Smoke?
Pop smoke, whose name was Bashar Barakah Jackson, was an American rapper and songwriter.
He was best known for his son Welcome to the Party, the lead single on his debut mixtape Meet the Woo, released in July 2019.
His Welcome to the Party rap song was made into two remixes featuring big rap names Nicki Minaj and Skepta in August 2019.
He later went on to collaborate with rapper Lil Tjay on the song War in October and also collaborated with Travis Scott on the song Gatti.
Tributes have started pouring in for the rapper across social media.
Nicki Minaj who collaborated with the rapper on Welcome to the Party wrote: “The Bible tells us that jealousy is as cruel as the grave. Unbelievable. Rest In Peace, Pop.”
Rapper Ludacris wrote: “Man Come On I don’t even know dude but he was just getting started in this Rap Game. I was definitely interested in seeing his Growth. Too many young lives with so much potential being taken away. This s*** has to stop R.I.P. Pop Smoke”.
Singer Kehlani tweeted: “Damn i meant to block someone n that s*** deleteddddddddd rest up pop smoke!! 20 years old, hella sweet FREAKISHLY talented. S*** sick out here. prayers to his family forreal”
Fellow rapper 50 cent wrote “R.I.P to my man Pop Smoke, No sympathy for winners. God bless him.”
Radio DJ Peter Rosenberg wrote: “Shocked and disgusted about the murder of Pop Smoke. I cannot believe we are here again. Heartbreaking.”
Singer Justine Skye said: “Dude…Pop Smokes last tweet was 2 hours ago and now everyone’s saying RIP… smh”.
Chance the Rapper tweeted: “Rest Up Pop Smoke, you were too young. God Bless and comfort your family. What a crazy trajectory you were on man smh”.
In an interview earlier this year, Pop Smoke spoke of his plans for the future as he reflected on his rise to success.
He told XXL: “This rapping is just another step in my life.
“There’s no telling what I might do after this. I’ll probably open up a store or some s**t.”
Hours before he died, Pop posted photographs of him living it up by a pool in Beverley Hills, California, to his Instagram, as well as sharing multiple videos of fans listening to his hits.
