Liverpool to be given golden trophy by Premier League if they match Arsenal's Invincibles

Liverpool look certain to win the Premier League but may falter in their bid to become the second team to complete an unbeaten season if their attention turns to defending their Champions League crown.

The Reds went down 1-0 in their Champions League last-16 first-leg tie against Atletico Madrid as they returned to the Wanda Metropolitano for the first time since lifting the trophy for the sixth time in June.

Saul Niguez’s fourth minute goal proved to be the difference between the sides after Liverpool had failed to clear a corner.

Klopp was left frustrated by Atletico’s gamesmanship and warned of a hostile atmosphere when Diego Simeone’s side travel to Anfield for the second-leg in three weeks’ time.
