Pete Davidson Seemingly Confirms Recent Rehab Stint During Comedy Show

Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson seemingly confirmed this week during a stand-up show at Carolines on Broadway that he recently went to rehab at the Sierra Tucson treatment facility in Arizona. This comes after he said during a “Weekend Update” segment on SNL in December that he was going on “vacation.”

When he made that comment on SNL, Davidson was in the middle of his split from Kaia Gerber, and explained that the type of vacation he was going on was one where “insurance pays for some of it, and they take your phone and shoelaces. And you have roommates, but it still costs like $100,000.”

According to Page Six, during his Sunday night sold-out show at Caroline’s, Davidson told the audience that he had worked on some new material while at the rehab facility where he went by the name “Howard.” The 26-year-old also mentioned that he regularly visited the “butt hut,” which is where all of the patients smoked cigarettes.

Davidson also brought up the topic of suicidal thoughts, and joked that he signed “a pledge” to not commit suicide until the New York Knicks won an NBA championship. He added that he had “at least five more years” before that was even a possibility.

Those who attended the show were required to lock their cell phones in pouches, but it wasn’t clear if they were forced to sign the $1 million non-disclosure agreement that Davidson’s team had sent out to ticket holders in late 2019.

One eyewitness at the show said that “the audience seemed really supportive” of Davidson. And, he didn’t just joke about rehab and suicide. He also discussed his brief relationship with actress Kate Beckinsale, and Davidson noted that after the pics went viral of the duo kissing at a New York Rangers game, Madison Square Garden owner James Dolan asked if he would make out with a girl again at another game because the photos got so much press.

Davidson didn’t reveal why he went to rehab in Arizona. According to their website, Sierra Tucson treats individuals struggling with substance abuse, eating disorders, trauma-related issues, anxiety disorders, and chronic pain.

Pete Davidson has been open in the past about his struggles with mental health. He revealed in 2017 that he had been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and had been suffering from anxiety and depression for years. In addition to his recent rehab stint, Davidson also sought treatment in 2016.
