Hand luggage: Choosing this for cabin bag can help you beat easyJet and Ryanair rules

Hand luggage for flights is taken onboard by the vast majority of passengers. Many holidaymakers like to only take cabin luggage to avoid splurging on hold baggage. However, this means you need to pack all your belongings in just the one bag.

Travellers have taken to content-sharing site Reddit to share their hand luggage tips.

On thread examined how fliers could get away with larger cabin baggage.

They revealed that by opting for soft-sided luggage you can often get away with a bigger bag.

This is because a soft bag is more apparel of squashing into the airport luggage checker should a member os staff want to check the size of your bag.

DON’T MISS

A hard-sided case is not malleable and so, no matter how much you have in the bag, its it’s too big, it’s too big.

“As long as it can fit/squash into their gauge and take it out again, you’re good,” one Reddit user wrote.

Another added: “Someone I’ve travelled with previously got away with a fairly big bag because it was soft and not full.”

One person shared their wisdom on getting a hand luggage bag past staff.

“Don’t ask them if it’s small enough at the check in, they might ask what luggage you have or if you have carry on,” they wrote on Reddit.

“Just say yes. They most likely won’t check it. I can’t remember the last time they checked mine, it was quite a long time ago.

“At worst, when you get to the gate they might just ask if you’d like to put it in the hold for free to save space but usually this is optional.”

Another top tip is to opt for a black and inconspicuous bag.

This is much more likely to attract attention from eagle-eyed staff.

Consequently, you may be able to get it onto the plane without anyone noticing, even if it does go over the size limit.

The risk with this is that if you mislay is, it might be harder to identify.
