Caitriona Balfe got tongue-tied during an appearance on US morning show Strahan, Sara and Keke alongside her on-screen husband in Outlander, Sam Heughan. The actress, who plays Claire Fraser in the Starz drama, described filming her passionate moments with her co-star as “always awkward”.
The 40-year-old has been appearing alongside Sam, 39, since the time-travelling romp launched in 2014.
Over the series, with season five dropping on Amazon Prime in the UK today, the pair’s alter egos have been seen in many a steamy embrace.
But it is far from romantic and sexy behind-the-scenes, and last week Caitriona could only laugh after being put on the spot about the raunchier shoots.
Keke, 26, started: “Of course the show is known for the amazing storylines, your great acting but also these passionate love scenes…

“So… I have to ask, is it nerve-wracking? Is it awkward sometimes doing that together?”
Laughing, Caitriona replied: “No I mean… well… it’s you know…” but her lack of full reply amused both Sam, the hosts and studio audience.
Keke joked that her sofa companion had left her to “take this one”, and he continued: “You go ahead.”
The brunette beauty stated: “Yes they’re always awkward, but it’s weird – we’ve been doing it for so long now.
Caitriona added: “For sure. There’s a crew of like 20 people.”
She wowed in a brown leather dress for the chat, while Sam coordinated with her in a suede-style jacket.
Meanwhile, the Outlander cast was out in force on Thursday evening, for the season 5 premiere at the Hollywood Palladium.
The lead stars were joined by Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin, who play Brianna Randall Fraser and Roger Wakefield respectively.
