Cabin crew secrets: Insider reveals disgusting reason why you should avoid eating off tray

CBA News Marketplace conducted an investigation to find out where the filthiest parts of the plane are, as well as some of the vilest items found onboard.

They discovered that it is the headrest that harbours the most germs and bacteria.

Having swabbed 100 areas of plane cabins across 18 short-haul flights, the headrest was found to hold haemolytic bacteria and E.coli, as well as having the highest aerobic count.

This was followed by the seat pocket, washroom handle, tray table and then the seatbelt which came in fifth place.
