Narcos: Mexico fans were hooked to the second season of Narcos: Mexico as it followed the downfall of Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo (played by Diego Luna), one of Mexico’s most prolific drug kingpins. The season ended with a dramatic episode, which had huge implications for the future of the show as new power lines were drawn in the Netflix series.
What happened at the end of Narcos: Mexico season 2?

Sylmar cocaine bust
The first major moment of the Narcos: Mexico finale came when a raid on a warehouse in the city caused the US government to seize 21.4 tons of cocaine and $10 million in cash.
This was the largest confiscation of drugs in the world’s history and had a major impact on what followed.
In the final episode called Free Trade, Gallardo then meets with Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann) to find out how he has survived the bust.
The tense meeting ends with Herrera asking for money upfront or he tells him he will have to go through Canada instead.
This sends Gallardo back to the federation with a difficult conversation to have later in the finale.

The Federation pulls out
Gallardo’s business comes crumbling down when he calls a meeting with his federation where he says they will sell cocaine in America.
He asks the federation who agrees to his new terms as each of them begin to pull out of their partnership.
Gallardo soon realises this was Amado Carrillo Fuentes’ (José María Yazpik) plan all along to phase him out of the federation.
When Fuentes tells him this has been planned for some time, Gallardo realises his control of the businesses is now over.
Isabella’s arrest
After the federation crumbles, the California cartel attempts to buy out Isabella Bautista (Teresa Ruiz).
She refuses their offer of money for her share of the business but it is not long until she faces the consequences.
Later in the episode, viewers watch as her men are shot dead by the police before she is arrested.

Gallardo’s arrest
Now his federation has fallen, viewers watched as Gallardo was finally arrested by the police.
When they turn up at his house, he tries to bribe them before they tell him it’s no use and he is taken away.
The moment is narrated by DEA agent Walt Breslin (Scoot McNairy) who speaks about how politically significant this moment was.
He links it to the US and Mexico free trade agreement, which hinged on Mexico proving it had control of its drug trafficking issues.
Viewers also get a glimpse at Breslin has he is called down from his new job in El Paso for the moment.
Breslin and Gallardo finally meet
The most compelling moment of the finale comes right at the end when Breslin comes face-to-face with Gallardo.
He visits him in prison where he confronts him with a picture of Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña) and asks him for information.
Gallardo plays innocent about what happened to Camarena but before Breslin leaves him, the pair have a prophetic final conversation.
During this, Gallardo tells him about what will happen next in the growth of the Mexican cartels.
He says: “I’ve heard the plazas will become their own cartels.
“At first it won’t be so bad. With luck, they’ll work together. But then they’ll all want the best routes, the best product, access to the top dogs in the government. That’s when the fireworks will start.”
He then tells him to “watch out” as “war will break out” between Tijuana and Sinaloa.
His final warning is to remember the name Amado Carrillo Fuentes, who will prove to play a big role in the trafficking.
Viewers familiar with what happens next in Mexican history will be well aware of how accurate Gallardo’s speech will be.
