PS Plus March 2020: Surprise PS4 free games news coming in 2020?

The PS Plus March 2020 lineup of free games are still a long way off from being announced, with Sony unlikely to share the news until closer to the end of February 2020. For now, PlayStation Plus subscribers can add a total of three games to their digital libraries. This includes BioShock: The Collection, which comes with a total of three games and therefore boosts the total titles you can download and enjoy this month even further.

The other two PS4 games include The Sims 4 and Firewall Zero Hour, which is another special inclusion.

Not only does Sony not usually offer three games as part of its monthly PS Plus subscription service, but they’re rarely PlayStation VR exclusives.

This makes Firewall Zero Hour a pretty unique addition to PlayStation Plus in February and may hint at the growing importance of Sony’s virtual reality platform.

“Become a hired contractor and expertly seize – or protect – sensitive information from opposing teams in Firewall Zero Hour, a 4v4 tactical shooter developed exclusively for PS VR,” the official PS Plus announcement adds.

“Dive straight into these intense multiplayer battles when Firewall Zero Hour’s new season – Operation: Black Dawn – also begins 4th February, featuring a new map (Oil Rig) available for all players, and other free content.”

Sony has already confirmed that they plan to offer cross-generational games between the PS4 and PS5 consoles, and that the PSVR will be compatible.

And there are also new reports that claim Sony is already planning the launch of the next VR device, and that it will arrive sometime after the PS5 is released in 2020.

So is there a chance that Sony will make free PSVR games part of its next-gen plans for 2020?

We should get some idea of Sony’s intentions when it announces the March free games for PS4. It would prove a big change and isn’t something expected from the tech giant this early in 2020, if ever.

But it should be noted that Sony made some big changes to PS Plus during March 2019.

March 8 was the final day that free PS3 and PS Vita games were made available as part of the popular subscription service.

As confirmed as the time by PlayStation: “If you haven’t added the following PS3 and PS Vita titles from the February games line-up to your library yet, they will remain available until March 8, 2019.

“Any PS3 and PS Vita games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to March 8, 2019, won’t be affected by this change.

“Those games will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member. Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same.

So there’s always a slim chance that Sony could provide a surprise update this year too.

The new free games announcement for PS4 gamers aren’t expected to be made until the final week of February 2020.

The big PlayStation Plus announcement is expected to happen on the last Wednesday of the month, meaning February 26.

This will be followed by the replacement of BioShock: The Collection, The Sims 4 and Firewall Zero Hour on March 3, 2020.
