Man Utd pick between Jack Grealish and James Maddison transfers ahead of summer window

Manchester United have made Aston Villa star Jack Grealish their top transfer target over Leicester’s James Maddison, reports say. The two players have been in fine form in the Premier League this season and could be on the move when the window reopens at the end of the campaign.

Manchester United, not content with landing Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon during the January transfer window, are eyeing more reinforcements.

And a playmaker is in their sights, with Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata both enduring difficult campaigns.

Grealish has emerged as a target amid his impressive displays for Villa. The 24-year-old has bagged seven goals from 23 games in the Premier League this season, contributing five assists along the way.

Maddison has also been linked amid his own good performances for Leicester.

And the Daily Mail say that, between the duo, Grealish has emerged as the club’s top transfer target.

Signing him could be more straightforward than if the club were to go for Maddison.

And Grealish, it seems, is currently sitting top of United’s transfer wishlist.

Meanwhile, former Red Devils star Paul Parker has questioned Grealish’s consistency for Villa.

And he’s also expressed a belief that Maddison may be out of reach.

“Manchester United need to sign proven players but the one who has proven himself [Maddison] is not going to leave Leicester,” Parker said.

“He’s not going to move unless Leicester get offered ridiculous money, like they were for [Harry] Maguire.

“Leicester couldn’t believe their luck with that one.

“So you go with Maddison [over Grealish] but can they get a deal?

“Grealish for me is still potential, there’s been a lot of talk and he hasn’t really done it on a consistent basis.”

Parker also believes United need a new striker and centre-back to rise up the table next term.

he continued: “You have to look long-term. They definitely need a centre forward.

“[Odion] Ighalo has come in but that’s a temporary move. You would probably look at a centre-back as well, a quality centre-back for a reasonable price.”
