Liverpool timeline for £60m Anfield expansion revealed as Reds rival Arsenal, Tottenham

Over 90 per cent were in favour of the proposals, which will take Liverpool’s overall capacity to 61,000.

And drop ins are being held this week as Liverpool look to assess more feedback before submitting planning permission to Liverpool City Council this spring in order to allow work to begin towards the end of this year.

The Main Stand construction work took 614 days to complete and the Anfield Road end should take a similar timeframe, with the stand remaining open the entire time to avoid any loss of revenue.

Liverpool will once again work with London architecture firm KSS, who helped give the towering Main Stand a fresh look.

The Premier League leaders want to add an additional 7,000 seats to their current capacity with at least 5,200 of those sold as general admission tickets – with a more significant percentage of hospitality seats in the Main Stand.

The Liverpool Echo report that the expansion will set Liverpool back around £60mm, having taken an £110m loan from owners Fenway SportsGroup for the Main Stand redevelopment.

Should Liverpool press ahead with their plans as anticipated, their capacity increase will see them overtake Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and the London Stadium, where West Ham play.

Last season, Liverpool raked in £81million in gate and match-day income whereas the Gunners took home £99m.
