Donald Trump 2020: US President to be re-elected as Democrats impeachment plan fails

Donald Trump has recently been acquitted by the Senate following his impeachment trial launched by his opposition, the Democrats. The US President was found not guilty of abuse of power or obstruction of Congress. Jadan Horyn has explained the Democrats plan to besmirch President Trump’s image hasn’t gained them votes in the states that matter.

Mr Horyn told Express.co.uk: “That is why playing with fire you get burned.

“The Democrats really thought this would give them an advantage.

“The delay by Speaker Pelosi showed so many Americans that the rhetoric they were saying about this being so essential to move quickly that the crime was so grave put down many Americans’ minds.

“Now they’re tuning out and they’re not listening.

“The President’s base is now more unified in support for him because they always said that they were going to do this to him.

“The Democrats did a self-fulfilling prophecy to the president and the president’s base.

“His numbers in the states that matter, in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, have not eroded.

“It is crucial as he won those states. If the Democrats want to win the election they need to erode numbers in those states and they’re not.

The outcome concluded nearly five months of impeachment proceedings launched in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s House of Representatives, ending in Mitch McConnell’s Senate.

Mr Trump will be breathing a huge sigh of relief as a President has never been removed by the Senate.

Senators had sworn to do “impartial justice”, stand at their desk for the roll call and state their votes – “guilty” or “not guilty.”

Republican US Senator Mitt Romney had today (Wednesday) launched a scathing attack against Mr Trump after he said he would vote to convict the US President for abuse of power in his impeachment trial.
