Renée Zellweger became one of Hollywood’s biggest stars in the mid-1990s thanks to her work in Jerry Maguire and since that point, she has been linked to a number of high-profile stars in some unlikely matches. She was awarded the best actress Oscar for her role as Judy in the Judy Garland biopic this weekend. But do you know the sought-after and celebrated men she’s been romantically linked to?
Her first love
Former Texan cheerleader Ms Zellweger was first connected to a bass player called Sims Ellison.
She was romantically linked to the handsome musician from 1991 to 1996.
But sadly, they spilt up when the actress moved away from Texas to focus on her career.
Mr Ellison’s band was also dropped by their record label around this time.
A little musical detour
Renee Zellweger found love again when she met Jack White in 2002.
Rock star Jack White, singer in The White Stripes and the Bridget Jones actress met in Romania on the set of civil war epic Cold Mountain.
The rock star had been commissioned to write music for the film and also had a small role as Ms Zellweger’s character’s husband.
The couple rarely spoke in public about their relationship, but they made a public appearance together at the Oscar’s in 2004.
The relationship was reportedly volatile with distance and an incident involving Mr White hitting a rival band member causing the split.
Renee says “I do”
American actress Ms Zellweger moved on to her next romance in January 2005 when she met American country music singer Kenny Chesney.
The couple had a whirlwind romance and were married in May of the same year.
After just four months however, the couple broke up, with the actress filing for an annulment.
She cited “fraud” as the reason at the time, leading to much speculation from fans.
However, speaking to Oprah in 2010, Mr Chesney said the relationship fell apart because he panicked.
Case 39 romance
Renee Zellweger met her next boyfriend renowned actor Bradley Cooper on the set of thriller Case 39.
The couple appeared to be going strong until they hit the rocks.
They split in March 2011 amid reports Mr Cooper’s rising success got in the way.
They had dated for two years, but at this point Ms Zellweger’s career was slowing down and Mr Cooper’s was ramping up.
The latest romance
Since 2012, the actress known for her performance as long term singleton Bridget Jones, has been in a relationship with musician, songwriter and producer Doyle Bramhall II.
The couple began dating two years after he speared from his wife Susannah Melvoin, with whom he has two children.
Reports the famous actress has long supported Mr Bramhall hit headlines in 2017, when Renée’s financial support for him was examined during his divorce proceedings.
But even this romance has apparently turned sour.
Radar Online and the National Enquirer reported the couple have split in early May.
