Jussie Smollett Indicted Again For 2019 Alleged Hate Crime Hoax

Jussie Smollett’s high-profile faux hate crime scandal isn’t over yet, a report from Fox 32 revealed. On Tuesday, special prosecutor, Dan Webb, brought an indictment against the actor regarding his 2019 January hoax.

Followers of the case know that Smollett has been accused by the state of hiring two Nigerian-American brothers of staging a racially and homophobia motivated attack against him involving a noose, bleach, racial and homophobic slurs, as well as assault.

Back in October 2019, Jussie Smollett fought back against claims he made the whole thing up on social media when someone online compared him to the teenage girl who purportedly lied about being attacked for her braids while at school.

Derrick Jackson, on Instagram, wrote that Jussie was “really a trendsetter,” along with a photo of the 12-year-old Amari Allen. Smollett wrote in response that his story never actually “changed,” and then went on to accuse those who don’t believe him of being “misinformed internalized sheep.”

Amari, the aforementioned teenager who claims she was bullied due to her hair, later revealed her story had been fabricated completely. Initially, she claimed that a group of boys attacked her at a Christian school, where the wife of Mike Pence also happens to work.

MSN reported that Amari’s parents were incredibly sorry, and later released a statement expressing how bad they felt about the allegations, including for the way it betrayed the community’s trust. Since Jussie’s case came out, he was fired from his role on the television show, Empire, and was later revealed to not be coming back.

For months, it was speculated that producers and writers were figuring out a way to bring him back on the series, however, the creator of the show later dropped a tweet stating there was no way Jussie would return.

Smollett’s case has since become a meme on social media and in the general culture, including in Dave Chappelle’s new stand-up special, Sticks and Stones, where he made reference to Jussie’s hate crime dilemma at length.
