Iran taunts Trump with chants of ‘DEATH TO AMERICA’ during Islamic Revolution anniversary

Marking the occasion, citizens gathered in the country’s capital where they chanted against Donald Trump and the US. In front of crowds, the country’s President, Hassan Rouhani, insisted it was “unbearable for the United States to accept the victory of a great nation and that a superpower has been driven out of this land”.

Rouhani also called on the crowds to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Iran views a high turnout as a strong sign of support for the country’s Shiite theocracy.

Rouhani added: “We should not withdraw from the ballot boxes.

“The ballot boxes are our saviour.”

In keeping with Rouhani, Iran’s foreign minister, Javad Zarif issued a tweet advising Mr Trump to change his policies on the country following the large turnout from the public.

He said: “Iranians turned out in huge numbers to rally on the 41st anniversary of their revolution–and to honour their fallen heroes.

“Message to Trump (+vassals): Time to abandon your delusions.

“With all challenges & differences, in defending country & honour, all 82 million Iranians are one.”

The revolution took place between January 7, 1978, and February 11, 1979, where protesters overthrew the last monarch of the country.

Following the defeat of the monarch, Sayyid Ruhollah Khomeini became the country’s first Supreme Leader.

Current, Supreme Leader Sayyid Ali Khamenei took over following his predecessor’s death in 1989.

As well as pictures of their Supreme Leaders, Iranian citizens also paid tribute to the killed Quds Force commander, Qassem Soleimani.

Soleimani was killed by a US drone strike last month in a move which threatened to throw the Middle East into a regional war.

The commander of the elite force of the Revolutionary Guard was killed after tensions between the US and Iran fell to an all-time low.

Before the turn of the year, the US blamed Iranian-backed pro-Shiite militants for an attack on an American military base.

The attack killed one US military contractor while injuring several others.

In response, the US launched an airstrike on Hezbollah facilities in Iraq and Syria killing 25 militants.

The US embassy in Baghdad was also attacked before Mr Trump sanctioned the killing of Soleimani.

This week, Iran had hoped to mark the celebrations of the Islamic Revolution by launching a satellite from the Imam Khomeini Spaceport.

“Millions of origin targeted millions of destinations and are seeking worldwide disruption to Iran’s Internet network.”
