Vanessa Bryant opens up on her grief in emotional tribute to Kobe and Gianna

Kobe Bryant’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, has told of her grief in an emotional post paying tribute to her late husband and daughter. The NBA legend and his daughter passed away following a helicopter crash on January 26.

Bryant explained that she is still processing the deaths of Kobe and Gianna, following the devastating helicopter crash which claimed both their lives.

Gianna, one of four daughters shared by the couple, was just 13 and on her way to basketball training at the time of the crash.

The teenager had been playing basketball for the Harbor Day School, and was a talented player.

At the time of her death, she was on her way to the ‘Mamba Academy’, set up by Kobe.

She had her number two jersey retired by the school in a special ceremony last week, and was described as the “heart and sole of the team”.

There will be a memorial service held in Los Angeles for Kobe and Gianna on February 24.

Vanessa has not spoken in public since the tragedy, but attended Gianna’s jersey retirement, and posted footage to her Instagram account.

She paid tribute to her late husband days after his death, and has now opened up on the grieving process, as she described on her Instagram page how difficult it is to deal with what happened.

“I’m so mad. She had so much life to live.

“Then I realize I need to be strong and be here for my 3 daughters. Mad I’m not with Kobe and Gigi but thankful I’m here with Natalia, Bianka and Capri.

“I know what I’m feeling is normal. It’s part of the grieving process.

“I just wanted to share in case there’s anyone out there that’s experienced a loss like this. God I wish they were here and this nightmare would be over.

“Praying for all of the victims of this horrible tragedy. Please continue to pray for all.”
