Raheem Sterling to Real Madrid

Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Raheem Sterling ahead of a possible summer move for the England international, according to reports.

The 25 year-old Manchester City winger, who is currently out with a hamstring injury, is under contract until 2023 and Los Blancos are weighing up their options about trying to sign the player at the end of the season.

According to The Telegraph, Real are closely watching whether Sterling will sign a fresh long-term deal with City.

And if no new agreement is agreed between the two parties, Real could then test City’s resolve with a bid for the winger, who currently earns £300,000 per week, in the summer.

Gabriel Martinelli pursuit

Arsenal striker Gabriel Martinelli is having an outstanding debut season for the Gunners and his performance on the pitch have attracted the attention of several big clubs across Europe.

Barcelona had been one of the teams monitoring the Brazilian’s form for the north London club but amid the current turmoil at the Catalan giants, Real Madrid are now preparing to step in with their own pursuit of Martinelli.

According to Spanish publication El Desmarque, Real president Florentino Perez is hoping to exploit the unrest at Barcelona to pip their rivals to signing Arsenal’s Martinelli.

The Gunners signed the 18-year-old from Brazilian side Ituano last summer for a fee of around £6million.

However, before making the move to the Premier League, Martinelli had visited Barcelona to train at their La Masia youth academy but nothing materialised after this visit.

Gareth Bale

Zinedine Zidane says Real Madrid will count on Gareth Bale during the final months of the season after the Welshman started in the 4-1 win at Osasuna.

The former Tottenham attacker played for 71 minutes and was involved in Isco’s leveller in his first LaLiga appearance since January 4.

Further goals from Sergio Ramos, Lucas Vazquez and Luka Jovic extended Real’s lead at the top of the table over Barcelona.

Bale has largely had a bit-part role this season with injuries affecting him and constant talk of a strained relationship with his head coach.

“He is an important player,” Zidane told a press conference reported by Marca. “He has done 65 good minutes offensively and defensively, he has tried and he is an important player.

“The problem is that they want us to have a problem with Gareth, but we do not have one.

“There are many players, it is not easy to manage all that, but in the end he is a very important player and little by little he will continue playing like the others.”

Kylian Mbappe/Roberto Firmino

Liverpool would be a better team with Kylian Mbappe in their front three, instead of Roberto Firmino, according to Reds hero Danny Murphy.

Firmino has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer, with the Bundesliga champions plotting a £75million bid.

“Could you get in another striker who gets in as many goals as Firmino? Yes,” he told talkSPORT. “Would they make as many assists as Firmino, and help the cohesion of the team as good? Maybe not. But there are players out there.

“If Liverpool were to lose Firmino and go and get Mbappe… Would that be a more scary front three?” Murphy said.
