Call of Duty Modern Warfare update: PS4 and Xbox patch news for Season 2 release

Season 2 will start later this week as part of a big new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update. And from what has been shared so far by Activision, fans should be prepared for a big COD download. There have been plenty of leaks so far about what will be added to the game tomorrow, and the good news is that everyone will be getting access at the same time. No platform is being left behind, with Season Two of Modern Warfare adding Ghost to the firefight and bringing more Multiplayer experiences through maps, modes, and an all-new Battle Pass.

The Battle Pass is what has been funding this free content and recent news from Activision suggests it’s been very successful.

Activision recently confirmed that they have plenty of new content planned for Modern Warfare, some of which will be coming to the game after Season 2 launches.

“It’s really on us from now to really build great content, which we intend to do for the long haul on this game, a great pipeline of content is coming starting with Season 2 next week,” Activision’s Bobby Kotick confirmed in February.

“And we have some surprises in store beyond that. So I’d say overall, what we expect is a healthier Call of Duty in 2020 versus the previous year. And we look forward to sharing more in the future.”

So even if Season 2 doesn’t include everything you want, there’s a chance something new will pop up in the future.

WHEN DOES CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE SEASON 2 START?

According to the latest news from Activision, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 2 release date has been set for Tuesday, February 11, 2020.

This will be a unified launch on all platforms, including PS4, Xbox One and PC gamers.

No set release time for COD Modern Warfare Season 2 has been given but we have a pretty good idea when it will start.

Based on previous launches, we would expect a big Call of Duty update to drop tomorrow, sometime around 6pm, GMT.

We would expect Season 2 to become playable at 7 pm, GMT, although much will depend on developer Infinity Ward.

Activision may also take this opportunity to rollout any bugfixes or balance changes needed to rework the game in key areas.

CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE PATCH NOTES

Activision and Infinity Ward have confirmed what new content will be available to play on Day One of the new Season 2 launch.

And gamers can expect all the major changes to be listed in official COD patch notes after the new update has been released.

The classic MW2 map of Rust will be one of the main draws for February 11, which will go live alongside the new Battle Pass.

Here is some of the new content we know will be available to play during the first day of Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 2:

Rust – Standard Multiplayer and Gunfight – The classic map returns! A small map for fast-paced combat, Rust brings the battle to an oil yard in the middle of the desert. The site of the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign mission, “Endgame”, may be just that for players who don’t learn the tricks to master this arid field of play. Utilize the environment for cover and grab the high ground and low ground to take advantage of your enemies.

Atlas Superstore – Standard Multiplayer – Go shopping in Atlas Superstore, a new Multiplayer map that takes place in a supercenter warehouse that has been taken over by Al-Qatala forces. Battle in dense lanes of traffic, over fallen shelving, and throughout the shipping, receiving, and employee-only areas. Clean up on aisle six!

Zhokov Boneyard – Ground War – A resting place for discarded airplane parts, Zhokov Boneyard is a Ground War map in Verdansk. Traipse through this airplane junk yard and avoid the turbulence of the enemy team while capturing your objectives.

Bazaar – Gunfight – A tightly contained cross-section of the streets of Urzikstan is turned into a battleground in Bazaar. Experience the tension-filled Gunfight while navigating a new zone of combat. The randomized Gunfight loadouts all have a chance to shine as the maps symmetrical layout offers opportunities for big moments and epic plays.

Gunfight Tournaments – Enter this single elimination 2v2 firefight and battle to earn rewards. 32 teams will enter, but only one can be crowned Gunfight Tournament champion. Gunfight Tournaments will be live for a limited time.
