Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette makes transfer decision as Mikel Arteta eyes overhaul

Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette has decided he wants a move to Spain when the transfer window opens this summer, according to reports. The France international has struggled under Mikel Arteta and could be offloaded at the end of the campaign.

Arsenal star Lacazette has, in previous seasons, been a key player for the Gunners.

However, the France international has endured a nightmare campaign at the Emirates, struggling under both Arteta and his predecessor Unai Emery.

Lacazette has scored just five goals from 18 Premier League matches this season, clocking up two assists along the way.

His form has led to talk that Arteta could cut him loose, with the Spaniard determined to build a title-winning team.

And the Daily Mail say that, if he leaves north London, Lacazette would favour a move to Spain.

Back in 2016, when Arsenal signed the striker from Lyon, Atletico Madrid were showing interest.

Diego Simeone was keen to swoop for the forward and pair him alongside Antoine Griezmann in attack.

But Lacazette ended up moving to Arsenal instead, where he’s failed to get anywhere near winning the Premier League title.

Atletico could reignite their interest in the former Lyon star, though, with Simeone’s forwards misfiring.

Diego Costa’s best years appear behind him, with the Spain international managing just two La Liga goals.

Alvaro Morata has started to resemble the same player who flopped in the Premier League with Chelsea.

And Joao Felix has done little to justify the club’s decision to spend an eyewatering £114million on him back in the summer.

“Lacazette wants to play purely as a goalscorer. That is not enough.

“He has to up his work rate and do the closing down and running his new coach demands of him. At the moment, he looks shorn of confidence because he is not fulfilling his role in the team.

“Sergio Agüero would be a good example for him to follow.

“He knew he could no longer get into the Manchester City team just as a goalscorer. He had to work hard too.

“If Lacazette does not realise that soon, he may find he is not an Arsenal player next season.”
