Pep Guardiola’s five best options after Man City penalty blunders and who has best record

Kevin de Bruyne

De Bruyne hasn’t taken a penalty – outside of a penalty shootout – in all competitions since October 2016.

On that occasion, his shot was saved by Maarten Stekelenburg in a 1-1 draw against Everton in the Premier League.

De Bruyne had only previously taken two penalties in his career, both of which came with his national team Belgium.

He scored during a 2014 international friendly against Luxembourg, before scoring again from the spot six months later against Andorra.

While De Bruyne hasn’t got a history of taking penalties, Guardiola would surely be considering handing the midfielder the responsibility after a number of failed attempts this season.
