Animal Crossing New Horizons is only a matter weeks away, with the Nintendo Switch exclusive launching on March 20. Anticipation is high for the latest entry in the hugely popular (and exceedingly cute) life-sim series starring Tom Nook and co. And Animal Crossing fans who can’t wait to dive into the world of New Horizons have been given a big boost about Nintendo’s future plans.
An update to the official Nintendo website could indicate that Ninty are planning on releasing DLC for Animal Crossing New Horizons.
The Nintendo.com website product page for Animal Crossing New Horizons has updated the ESRB rating of the Nintendo Switch exclusive.
And the ‘in-game purchases’ notice has been added to the product page for the next Animal Crossing game.
Nintendo has not announced any DLC for Animal Crossing New Horizons but past entries in the series has had paid and free purchases.

It appears that Animal Crossing New Horizons won’t support save data transfer or cloud saves.
While this may come as a disappointment to fans, this is likely due to how New Horizons only allowing for one island per Switch console.
ResetEra user Atheerios was the one who highlighted this news on the online message board.
Alongside a picture of the German box art they added: “This is probably because, unlike pretty much every other Nintendo Switch game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons shares the island between every profile on the console.
“So the only way to transfer the save would be to overwrite every profile in the destination console.”
The box art also revealed that the game will take up 6.2GB of space on the Switch.
The listing for New Horizons on the Nintendo Australia website previously revealed the game would only support one island per console.
It said: “Up to eight players can reside on an island; four residents of the same island can play together simultaneously on a single system”.
Despite this it won’t quell the anticipation among fans for Animal Crossing New Horizons.
The latest Animal Crossing game is the first one for Nintendo consoles that is focussed on its trademark life-sim gameplay since 2012’s New Leaf.
Nintendo’s previous home console, the Wii U, did have an Animal Crossing game – but this title, Amiibo Festival, was poorly received.
The Wii U title shunned Animal Crossing’s life-sim gameplay for an experience akin to the Mario Party series.
