Man Utd injury latest as Paul Pogba could return against Chelsea, Scott McTominay update

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have Paul Pogba back from injury for the Red Devils’ clash against Chelsea next week. Scott McTominay is unlikely to feature, however, and has been left out of the club’s warm-weather training in Marbella.

United have had a number of injury problems over the last month, and Solskjaer was without five first-team players last weekend, for the 0-0 draw with Wolves.

Pogba and McTominay have been long-term injury concerns, while Marcus Rashford picked up a back stress fracture in January.

Axel Tuanzebe had a hamstring strain, while Nemanja Matic was serving a one-match suspension, after picking up two yellow cards in a Carabao Cup tie against Manchester City.

But, there could be a welcomed return for Pogba, who has had a number of ankle problems this season.

Both midfielders were left behind by Solskjaer, as they continue their rehabilitation.

McTominay suffered knee ligament damage during the Boxing Day tie against Newcastle United.

He isn’t expected to make the Chelsea match next weekend, but could be in line for the match against Watford the following weekend.

The Scotland international admitted that the rehab can be hard work, but he’s doing everything he can to get back to full fitness.

Solskjaer heads to Stamford Bridge on February 17 (8pm) knowing that defeat would be a major blow to their top four hopes this season.

Chelsea are currently six points clear of the Red Devils, and sit in fourth place.

United, meanwhile, haven’t won a Premier League tie in their last three matches, and are seventh in the table.

If the Blues beat United, Solskjaer’s side could drop as low as ninth in the league table.
