Metro Exodus Steam release date: Launch time revealed with DLC update

Developers 4A Games has confirmed its plans for the Metro Exodus release on Steam in February 2020. As many gamers will be aware, the latest adventure starring Artyom has been available on PC, PS4 and Xbox one for some time. But it’s been locked behind an Epic Games Store exclusivity deal for the whole time, meaning Steam users have had to wait. The good news is that term is almost over, and the Metro Exodus release date on Steam is almost here, complete with unlock time.

WHAT IS THE METRO EXODUS RELEASE DATE ON STEAM?

The Metro Exodus Steam release date has been set for Saturday, 15th February 2020.

This is a bit unusual as release dates go, considering that most games look to launch during the week.

So there could be quite the scramble on the Steam Store to complete downloads and start playing next weekend.

A bit of bonus news for fans in the UK is that Metro Exodus will be launching at a pretty good time that will not mean staying up late.

The strange timing for the game’s release might be explained by the latest information regarding the new Metro Exodus DLC being released this month.

Metro Exodus DLC – Sam’s Story will be launching on all platforms, apart from Steam, on February 11, 2020. This new content will change the standard gameplay formula used in Metro Exodus, featuring a new character as he looks to return home.

“In this sandbox-survival expansion, players will forge Sam’s path on his journey through Vladivostok on his mission to find his way home to the USA,” a message from Deep Silver explains.

“Sam has long dreamed of returning to his homeland, and maybe finding his family alive. The prospect seemed impossible in the darkened tunnels of the Metro, but when the Spartans discovered that Moscow was not the only city left alive after the war, holding out hope didn’t feel so foolish anymore.

“Sam makes his way away from the Aurora in search of a way back to the USA, arriving at the remains of Vladivostok’s tsunami-ravaged harbours, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts.

“To complete his journey, Sam will discover that he needs every tactic he has learned so far to survive, as his surroundings prove to be far trickier than expected.”

Metro Exodus is currently available to play on PS4, Xbox One, Epic Games Store and Google Stadia, with Steam and Nintendo Switch support coming in 2020.
