Melania Trump snub: FLOTUS awkwardly brushes off President’s kiss by turning her cheek

The POTUS was in an excitable mood after the Senate acquitted him of charges in his impeachment trial, but Melania did not appear to be ready to pack on the PDA with Trump after his big win. On the day after the POTUS had been acquitted of his impeachment articles on Feb. 5, Melania was standing by the his side as he broke his silence on his victory in the East Room of the White House. However, when Trump helped Melania onto the stage, he puckered up and leaned in for a kiss, which landed on Melania’s cheek.

It appeared that the First Lady had turned her head, making for an uncomfortable moment to watch.

Ignoring the painful reaction from Melania, Trump showed his appreciation for his family: “So, I just want to thank my family for sticking through it,

“This was not part of the deal. I was going to run for president, and if I won, I was going to do a great job,” He said.

Trump also gave a shoutout to his children Ivanka and Baron, saying:”I want to apologize to my family for having them have to go through a phony, rotten deal by some very evil and sick people,

“And Ivanka is here, and my sons, and my whole family. And that includes Barron. He’s up there, he’s a young boy. Stand up, honey. Ivanka, thank you, honey.” added the President.

Two-thirds of the Senate found Donald innocent during Wednesday’s impeachment trial, which led to his acquittal on both of his articles of impeachment: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress

Trump’s long-running trial began when the House of Representatives impeached him in Dec. 2019, following the outcry over his phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky in July of 2019.

It comes as Melania is set to host a pair of spring fundraisers to gain sponsors for Trump’s 2020 campaign.

Before the 2018 midterm elections, the first lady sent out a fundraising appeal defending her husband.

“Democrats and the opposition media are doing everything they possibly can to discredit Donald with false accusations by spreading their fake news and making it appear that he does not have the support of America’s voter,” she wrote in the message.

Republican officials see Melania Trump as a great way to get big donors in, as it provides an opportunity to connect with the president’s family.

Donald Trump Jr, the president’s son, is a frequent guest at donor events, as is Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor, Jared Kushner.

So far the Trump re-election effort has profited handsomely, raising $463 million in 2019 and is now almost at $200 million.
