Last night, Donald Trump gave his State of the Union address to a packed Capitol Building. Many Democrat politicians refused to attend the night, citing their disdain and bitter opposition to the president.
Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker and Democrats most powerful member, fulfilled her role and attended the speech.
Yet, she made it visibly clear that her presence was more a result of duty than respect when, on Trump’s finishing the address, she tore his speech in half.
Many took to Twitter to react to the move – the overwhelming majority calling Ms Pelosi out.
One user wrote: “Nancy Pelosi has been in Congress 33 years, her actions tonight are just another of the countless reasons why we need Congressional Term Limits.”
Another said: “Typical spoilt democrat watching everything fall apart.”
A separate person, in reference to Ms Pelosi’s spearheading the impeachment charges against Trump, wrote: “I thought she was ripping up her articles of impeachment.”
The move may have been in response to Trump’s previous humiliation of Ms Pelosi at the beginning of the SOTU address.
As the president entered the capitol building and approached the dock, Ms Pelosi offered her hand, only for Trump to turn his back on her.

A separate was made up by the action, and wrote: “Just saw you snub STUTTERING PELOSI!!
“She went for handshake and she got the back of your head!
“Love you President Trump!”
Despite this, many were quick to denounce the move.
One user said: “This ‘man’ is beyond despicable.
“Also, he has a wicked lisp and nasal, slow, heavy breathing cadence going on.”
Another: “You’re a real piece of “work” for snubbing a handshake from Madam Speaker…you childish punk.”
In his SOTU, Trump praised the advances his administration has made since he entered the oval office in 2017.
He also congratulated several guest members of the audience, including a young schoolgirl who was awarded a scholarship to study at a school of her choice.
The prestigious Medal of Freedom was also bestowed upon a new awardee, this time radio personality and conservative political commentator, Rush Limbaugh.
Previous recipients include Joe Biden, Meryl Streep, and Steven Spielberg.
