Hailey Baldwin Admits First Year Of Marriage With Justin Bieber Was A Struggle – ‘He Was Really Sick’

Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber’s first year of marriage wasn’t the wonderful honeymoon period that many newlyweds enjoy. The 23-year-old model opened up about her relationship in a new interview, and she admitted that things were difficult because Bieber was sick and the world was being judgmental and accusing him of drug use.

Baldwin told Elle magazine that when her husband started experiencing his health issues, doctors had trouble figuring out was wrong and coming up with a diagnosis.

“He was really sick. He has Lyme disease, and he was dealing with a bunch of medical stuff. We didn’t have a diagnosis,” Baldwin said. “And it was hard because everybody from the outside was being super mean and judgmental, saying he looked like he was on drugs, saying how unhealthy he looked, when in truth, he was not healthy, and we didn’t know why.”

She added that while trying to be a wife during her first year of marriage, she had to help an extremely depressed Bieber figure out what was wrong and what was going on.

Bieber also explained why they opted for a courthouse wedding in September 2018, and then waited an entire year to have a big ceremony with family and friends. She said that organizing a big ceremony after rekindling their romance would have been “really hectic and stressful” because of Bieber’s health issues.

“Now he’s perfectly healthy,” Baldwin said. “But going through that and then trying to be like, ‘So where does our wedding fit into this?’ didn’t feel like the vibe at all.”

She says they went straight into figuring out the hard stuff because you never know what can happen with someone’s health. Baldwin admitted it was scary because they didn’t know what was happening, and the opinions from the outside world made it worse.

In addition to his mononucleosis and Lyme disease diagnosis that Bieber eventually received from doctors, Bieber detailed his struggle with drugs in a recent episode of his YouTube docu-series Seasons.

Bieber said it all began when he was growing up in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. The 25-year-old explained that he started smoking pot when he was about 12 or 13, and then he started “popping pills” and “sipping lean,” which is a mix of codeine, soda, and hard candy.

Bieber explained that he was experimenting like everyone else in the industry, but he was in front of the cameras and had a lot of money, and that was a big problem.

“I decided to stop because I was, like, dying,” said Bieber. “My security were coming into the room at night to check my pulse. People don’t know how serious it got. It was legit crazy-scary.”

Bieber said he’s abused his body in the past, and now he’s in the recovery process. The singer said he is committed to getting better because he knows that “being the best me” will help him be a better husband, father, and friend.

“And for all the fans that want to enjoy the music that I make. I can’t do it if I’m not healthy, and I haven’t been healthy for a long time,” said Bieber.
