Disney Plus launched in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, among other regions last year. The highly-anticipated streaming platform will be coming to the UK on March 24 this year, along with other European nations. Other regions will see Disney Plus launching in the summer but Asia could be one of the last to get the platform.
When will Loki be released on Disney Plus?
Along with Disney’s back catalogue of films and TV shows, there will be a raft of new content, specifically Star Wars and Marvel.
Disney recently dropped a teaser trailer with some of its upcoming Marvel shows featuring clips from the likes of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki.
Disney has yet to confirm a release date for Loki but fans can expect to see the series at some point in spring 2020.
Lead star Hiddleston previously shared a shot on Instagram with his eight million followers of himself along with the cast and crew of Loki.
The snap from December 2019 confirmed filming had started on the show.
According to the actor, there will be six hours of the Loki series which presumably means six episodes.
Given Disney Plus shows like The Mandalorian airs on a weekly basis, Loki is highly likely to be released in instalments rather than a mass drop.
Who is in the cast of Loki on Disney Plus?
Loki wouldn’t be the same without The Night Manager and Avengers star Hiddleston, who will be reprising his title role from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Speaking to Collider at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, Hiddleston said: “I feel like I know him. I’ve been playing him for 10 years now, and that’s crazy to me.
“By the time it’s out, I’ll be 40. When I was cast I was 29, which is a great chunk of my life…but the point is, there’s a sense of ‘I know this character now, I feel the audience knows him’.
“Playing him, and playing him truthfully, but presenting him with new challenges which then have to change him in different ways is the most exciting aspect of it.
“You have his specific gifts, his intelligence, his treachery, his mischief, his magic, and then seeing him come up against more formidable opponents the like of which he has never seen or known.”
Most recently, it was confirmed Owen Wilson would also be starring in the Loki series but his role is yet to be confirmed.
Other cast members are expected to be announced in due course with production still taking place.
However, fans could see other people from the MCU cropping up and there are likely to be crossovers between different Marvel TV shows as well as the superhero franchise expands onto the small screen.
What will happen in Loki on Disney Plus?
According to Variety, the new series will see Loki appearing at different points in human history to cause mayhem.
He’s expected to be different to the version fans have grown used to from the likes of Thor: Ragnarok.
Instead, his personality will be more like the loveable rogue from the first Avengers film.
So fans can expect something a bit different to Loki from the big screen outings.
Hiddleston previously promised there would be some “formidable opponents” in the new series.
