Vikings season 6: Who is Ray Stevenson? Meet the Rome actor

Ubbe immediately wants Othere to be killed as he is Christian but Torvi managed to intervene, reminding Ubbe that he was once baptised himself.

Othere then told the tale of the ‘golden land’ to the west, presumably land that today is present-day America.

The idea of the golden land inspires Torvi and Abbe to keep exploring a world beyond Kattegat.

Vikings fans were left confused as to whether Othere is actually Athelstan, despite seeing the character beaten to death by Floki three seasons ago.

One fan tweeted: “So, Ubbe named his son Ragnar and is looking for Floki, who killed Athelstan, which is also the real name of Othere. I feel like this is all-important somehow… #Vikings.”

A second fan commented: “So like, is every monk on #Vikings called Athelstan?”

A Third fan tweeted” I’m not here for this off-brand Athelstan #Vikings.”

At first, Othere denied ever meeting Floki but that turned out not to be the case.

Othere’s discussion with Flatnose seemed to confirm that Flatnose is keeping Folki’s whereabouts a secret.

When Othere asked “and what of Floki?”, Flatnose replied: “he does not need to know everything” which raised serious suspicions between Ubbe and Torvi.

Othere also seems to know about Folki’s whereabouts, handing Ubbe Floki’s wedding ring and explains his disappearance was because he “had no hope left for humanity”, which does coincide with how Floki was feeling at the end of season five when he entered the Icelandic cave.

There is one more episode to go before the Vikings season six midseason finale, so hopefully, fans will find out exactly what happened to Floki in the next episode.

Vikings season 6 airs Wednesdays on History and Thursdays on Amazon Prime Video
