Terminator: Dark Fate star Linda Hamilton’s acting career went stratospheric after her part in The Terminator back in 1984. The movie was a huge commercial and critical success and she later came back for another round up against the cyborg, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, in Terminator 2: Judgement Day in 1991.
The sequel was the highest-grossing movie of the year and cemented her place as a Hollywood pin-up.
When the third Terminator movie, Terminator Salvation, came out in 2009, she provided voiceovers but did not appear on-screen.
Emilia Clarke played the part of Sarah in 2015’s Terminator Genisys.
But last year, Hamilton returned to the iconic role once again.

Originally planned to be the first of a new trilogy, Dark Fate flopped at the box office despite receiving fairly good reviews.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hamilton revealed she wasn’t optimistic about the franchise’s chances of continuing, adding that she’d rather not come back to play Sarah anyway.
“I would really appreciate maybe a smaller version where so many millions are not at stake,” she explained. “Today’s audience is just so unpredictable.
“I can’t tell you how many laymen just go, ‘Well, people don’t go to the movies anymore.’
“It should definitely not be such a high-risk financial venture, but I would be quite happy to never return,” she said. “So, no, I am not hopeful because I would really love to be done.”
In light of Terminator: Dark Fate’s massive losses at the box office, the director Tim Miller told Empire magazine the plans for the trilogy were in jeopardy.
“We had originally talked about three movies in total,” he said. “Over time it naturally fell into chunks, but it was all about what is the big, fat story — the arc of these characters — and then it comes down to how do you divide up that pie into three movies?
“The opening weekend certainly makes the chances less bright,” he admitted. “But we did structure it so I don’t feel this film feels incomplete, in the same way that Terminator 2 didn’t.”

Meanwhile, Hamilton also addressed her legacy as Sarah, who has redefined the role of women in action movies.
“Within a half a year of Judgement Day’s release, there was still such a stir about how I looked,” she said. “At this point, I was going, ‘Put that down. There was so much else that I did for that part.’”
She laughed, continuing: “The strength, the build of the body, whatever… had clearly captured the imagination on quite a global level.
“So, that was when I realized that that, at least, was going to linger for a long time.”
Despite being well-received by critics, Dark Fate struggled once it hit cinemas.
It was previously reported to be facing losses of up to $100 million.
As Miller noted, this performance might put plans for another two films on hold, maybe indefinitely.
As well as the Terminator movies, Hamilton has also starred in Dante’s Peak, Frasier and Children of the Corn.
