Ivanka Trump humiliation: First Daughter left red-faced as organisations boycott event

The First Daughter was expected to host the event on human trafficking but certain organisations have accused Donald Trump’s administration of endangering immigrants who have been trafficked and will therefore not attend. The group includes Polaris, the non-profit organisation which runs the human-trafficking hotline and the leader of Freedom Network, the largest anti-trafficking network in the US.

Groups such as Polaris have criticised the US government for not attempting to solve the issue in the country.

Martina Vandenberg, the founder of the Human Trafficking Legal Center said: “We have such a chasm between rhetoric and reality.

“This administration is undermining protections carefully built for trafficking victims over two decades.”

Ivanka has chosen to champion the case to eradicate human trafficking across the US.

Moreover, her father also became the first sitting President to attend a meeting of the federal trafficking task force.

The First Daughter will host the event intended to mark the 20th anniversary of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act.

She said in a statement: “I am honoured to stand with the president as we convene federal, state, local and tribal leaders, alongside survivors, employers and advocates to ensure that we see the end of the crisis of human trafficking once and for all.”

The groups boycotting the summit are also concerned over the scrutiny directed towards the T visa.

During the World Economic Forum in Davos, she was asked about Greta’s impact on the environmental debate.

Although Ivanka’s father has hit out at the activist, the First Daughter admitted she would never “criticise” someone for raising the debate.

The First Daughter said: “I’m not going to criticise anyone who’s bringing their energy and voice.

“That’s not my style.

“I think she’s elevated awareness and that’s a positive thing.”

The comments were made after the 17-year-old called on global leaders at the summit to act on climate change.

Some Twitter users, responded saying: “Why would she do that?

“It’s a complete hoax in order to con people into giving up their liberty and freedoms.”

Another said: “I used actually think highly of Ivanka.

“Now, though, she’s just become Princess Spin-A-Lot.”
