BREAKING: Lakers vs Clippers postponed following tragic death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant

The Los Angeles Lakers’ showdown with rivals the LA Clippers scheduled for January 28 has been postponed in the wake of Kobe Bryant’s death. Lakers legend Bryant perished alongside daughter Gianna and seven more victims in a helicopter crash on Sunday night.

Bryant’s death has prompted mourning among the Lakers nation, with many fans having witnessed his 20-year career at the pinnacle of basketball.

The five-time NBA champion was en route to one of his daughter’s games when the helicopter carrying them crashed in Calabasas, California.

The NBA have now taken the decision to postpone his old side’s clash against the Clippers at the Staples Center, the home both teams share.

“The National Basketball Association game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the LA Clippers scheduled for Tuesday. Jan 28 at Staples Center has been postponed,” a league statement read.

“The decision was made out of respect for the Lakers organisation, which is deeply grieving the tragic loss of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other people in a helicopter crash on Sunday. The game will be rescheduled at a later date.”
