Steve Bruce sends Newcastle fans positive transfer message as takeover talk swirls

Steve Bruce insists Newcastle aren’t done in the transfer market. The Toon chief has been hard at work bringing in reinforcements to help his troops beat the drop.

Bruce has so far managed to acquire the services of Nabil Bentaleb and Valentino Lazaro on loan for the remainder of the season from Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan respectively.

Newcastle are currently on the lookout for a new left-back following Jetro Willem’s season-ending knee injury.

Bruce was quizzed about his plans for the remainder of the transfer window – which shuts next Friday – following the Magpies’ FA Cup draw with Oxford United on Saturday.

And the Newcastle chief revealed he and the club are still working hard to bring in more reinforcements.

Bruce’s comments on his plans for the remainder of the window come amid the club being locked in fresh takeover talks.

On Saturday, it emerged that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has opened negotiations with current owner Mike Ashley over £340million takeover bid.

Amanda Stavely and billionaires David and Simon Reuben are also part of the consortium in talks to take over the club.

The prospect of having a new boss was also put to Bruce, who refused to give his thoughts on the story.

He said: “I think I’ve got enough worries of my own on the football side without having to worry about those stories (takeover).”

Newcastle will be back in action next Saturday, welcoming fellow relegation battlers Norwich to St James’ Park.

The Geordies will enter the match 14th in the Premier League table and seven points above the relegation zone.
