Coco Gauff’s remarkable Australian Open run was ended at the fourth-round stages as she lost to fellow American Sofia Kenin.

The 15-year-old had knocked out seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams and defending champion Naomi Osaka en-route to the last 16.

But No 14 seed Kenin was a step to far as the teenager’s grueling campaign took it’s toll.

Gauff got off to the worst possible start, losing her opening serving game but she broke back and went on to win the first set tiebreak.

The world No 67 firmly believed she could win her maiden Grand Slam title in Melbourne and those hopes grew as several of the top seeds tumbled.

The likes of Serena Williams, Belinda Bencic, Elina Svitolina and Karolina Pliskova all fell in previous rounds.

But Gauff ran out of steam as her length battle with Kenin ticked over the two-hour mark.
