Huawei P40 Pro leak reveals one big change coming to new Android phone

Huawei P40 Pro is set to be revealed in the coming months, and ahead of it a big leak has shown one major change coming to the Android device. Huawei bigwig Richard Yu has already confirmed that the Shenzhen-based smartphone giant will unveil their P40 series of devices in Paris towards the end of March. This marks the same time of year and same city that Huawei unveiled their P20 and P30 range of devices for the first time.

There is plenty of speculation surround the Huawei P40, with rumours suggesting the P40 Pro will offer a substantial hardware upgrade over the P30 Pro.

And ahead of the launch event for the P40 Pro the upcoming flagship phone from Huawei has been spotted in the wild.

On Chinese social media site Weibo the first live photos of the Huawei P40 Pro were published, according to a post by GSMArena.

And the photos confirm one change coming to the P40 Pro – that it will be dropping the teardrop notch of the P30 Pro for a dual punch hole selfie camera akin to the S10 Plus.

The P40 Pro showcased in the Weibo pictures was sporting a case which had two flaps that cover the rear camera.

However, other leaks have indicated that the P40 Pro will feature a total of four camera sensors.

This will likely be a main wide angle camera alongside a telephoto lens, ultrawide camera, and Time of Flight sensor, according to a post by Trusted Reviews.

The news comes as notable tipster Evan Blass teased that Huawei P40 Pro could be coming in a striking new colour scheme.

Blass on Twitter posted a render of the rear of the P40 Pro in a new mint green colour scheme.

Alongside the render the tipster posted: “Would you buy a mint green phone?”

In other Huawei news, ahead of the launch of the P40 Pro the P30 Pro has seen its price slashed.

When the P30 Pro first went on sale last year the Huawei flagship was priced at £899.

But in the run-up to the launch of the P40 Pro a number of retailers have slashed the price of the Huawei P30 Pro to £699.

As a quick reminder, the P30 Pro is packed with features that include a 6.5-inch OLED curved display, quad rear camera and a huge 4,200mAh battery.

There’s also a fast processor tucked under the glass and aluminium body and you’ll find the clever reverse wireless charging feature which can refill other devices when placed on top of the P30 Pro.

Express.co.uk were left hugely impressed by the Huawei P30 Pro, awarding it four and a half stars out of five in our review.

In it we said: “The P30 Pro has raised the bar for smartphones in 2019, and not just because of its first-in-class camera system.

“While the Huawei handset certainly faces stiff competition from the likes of the Galaxy S10 and Pixel 3, we believe the device is the most complete you can buy at the moment, especially for those even remotely interested in taking photos.

“Cameras are currently one of the fastest-developing areas of smartphones and Huawei has just cemented its place at the forefront of innovation in this regard.

“Although there is still room for improvement, the Huawei P30 Pro is a photography maestro that any Android fan would be foolish to ignore.”
