Doomsday Clock 2020: Is the world close to annihilation? Should we be worried?

Although there is no way to determine whether the clock will move forward today or not, 2019 has been a tumultuous year full of international conflict and natural disasters.

With devastating fires raging through the Amazon rainforest and the Australian bush in 2019, the Bulletin will have many different factors to ponder.

More recently, tensions spiked between the US and Iran when President Donald Trump ordered the assassination of Iran’s military leader Qasem Soleimani.

In December 2019 North Korea’s despotic leader Kim Jong-un also signalled his readiness to resume the regime’s nuclear ambitions.
