Dune 'SPECTACULAR' first look will reduce fans to 'tears' 'It's the new Lord of the Rings'

With Star Wars fading away surprising fast after a disappointing box office finale, it’s time for the next great space opera. Denis Villeneuve has bravely taken on Herbert’s epic saga. The first footage has finally been revealed and things are looking very good. The first movie is out in December with fans now hoping for an official trailer to land any day.

The footage was shown to a lucky few and Canadian author Brian FH Clement tweeted his reactions.

He wrote: “I was in a work meeting today and got to see some promo/preview footage of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, and I am ON BOARD with it. I think it looks fantastic.”

Fans of the books immediately latched on to the post and asked for more details.

Clement responded: “I’m not exaggerating when I say a lot of people will have goosebumps/tears when they see this movie (I might!). Heck, when they see the footage I saw they will.”

“To be honest, it’s not exactly how I pictured the universe of Dune when I first read the book (it never will be) but that’s a good thing. I really like the look Villeneuve has created and I think it’s going to be spectacular.”

He went on to compare it to two of the greatest film franchises of all time.

Clement added: “I think this will blow people away the way LOTR (Lord of the Rings) did 20 years ago, the way Star Wars did 40 years ago.

“It’s not Jodorowsky or Lynch, but maybe Villeneuve has filmed the unfilmable.”

The extraordinary cast is already enough to have most film fans salivation.

Oscar Isaacs and Rebecca Ferguson play Paul’s parents, Duke Leto Atreides and his concubine, Lady Jessica.

The cast also includes Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Javier Bardem and Charlotte Rampling.

If the big-budget blockbusters are a success, there are plenty more books in the Dune saga to adapt, with five sequels taking the saga thousands of years into the future.

The first film arrives in cinemas on December 18.

Before that, a spin-off TV show,  Dune: The Sisterhood, will be released on the upcoming streaming service, HBO Max. The series will focus on the Bene Gesserit order, a powerful all-female sect of ‘witches’ who secretly control and manipulate politics and bloodlines across the galaxy to their own mysterious ends.

DUNE IS OUT IN CINEMAS WORLDWIDE ON DECEMBER 18
