Developers Infinity Ward has confirmed that a new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC this week. An exact release date has not been announced for the upcoming COD Download, but there’s a good chance it will be arriving on Tuesday, January 21, or Wednesday, January 22. Tuesday has been designated the day for Playlist patches to be released in Modern Warfare. Meanwhile, a recent social media message from a COD League player suggested that changes were being prepared for January 22.
Whatever does happen this week, there’s a good chance that we will have a new COD download to install within the next 48-hours.
Here’s the latest information from Infinity Ward on their plans for the game this week, telling fans:
“It’s been an exciting week, with Shoot House 24/7 making its return, the new “Same Day Delivery” playlist, and some new Gunfight 3v3 action, so let’s get ready for the weekend and take a look at what’s coming in Modern Warfare.
“We’re extending Season One, which will now end on February 11th. We’ve got new challenges, items, more game modes, new playlists…and of course, a pretty sweet Crossbow that you can earn by completing a challenge in-game, all coming over the next few weeks.
“We’ll also be flipping the switch on 2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression events to help you finish up your Officer Ranks and Tiers, just in time for Season Two
“We’ve also been working on an update that we’re looking to publish to all platforms next week, so be sure to keep an eye out for patch notes!
“Last week we revealed our Trello board, a quick and easy way for us to update you on things we’re working on, what’s coming, and any other important information you may need.
“As we’ve mentioned, it’s not everything we’re working on, but it’s a solid way to see the status of some of the issues you’ve reported.”
When it comes to what time to expect the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update, we would expect the next patch to be made available after 7pm, GMT.
And unless there are issues with the game, this would be the deadline expected for any new patch being released in the coming days.
When it comes to what will be included in the new COD download, the latest news shared by the Infinity Ward development team is that extra Create A Class slots are being added to the game.
Infinity Ward’s Co-Design Director of Multiplayer, Joe Cecot, revealed as much telling fans on Twitter: “Should launch in January. Don’t have an exact date.”
He also added a little more about the timing of the next update, adding: “Our next big update should have all of the fixes. We start pushing this update through this week. I don’t have the exact date. Sorry.”
There’s also a slim chance that the new Crossbow challenge will be added to the game this week.
This new content was confirmed following the news that Season 1 was being extended, so it will need to go live in-game before February 11, 2020.
