TemTem release date latest as Pokemon Sword and Shield rival nears launch

Fans looking for a new creature-collecting title don’t have long until the TemTem release date arrives on Steam. Having flown somewhat under the radar since its successful Kickstarter campaign, TemTem could be a great choice for Pokemon fans who have yet to pick up a Nintendo Switch. TemTem draws direct comparisons with Game Freak’s hugely successful Pocket Monster franchise but it will also offer its own distinct gameplay twists.

While you will be exploring the world with a team of creatures that you will also use to battle others, TemTem is being packaged as an MMO.

This will mean sharing a world with other TemTem tamers, which you will be able to see exploring alongside you, as well as fighting to become the top trainer around.

This also extends to being able to join forces with a friend and work together to catch new Temtem, or face off against a Temtem Leader in dual battles.

Here’s what we know about the upcoming TemTem release date on Steam, and when to expect the game to launch on other platforms.

WHEN IS THE TEMTEM EARLY ACCESS RELEASE DATE ON STEAM?

TemTem could become the next big Steam release if developer Crema has everything they need to make the Early Access launch a success.

As the name suggests, the version of the game launching this week isn’t the final product and could include some major bugs.

But that’s probably not going to stop fans on Steam snatching it up when it goes live later this week.

According to the official Steam page, the TemTem release date has been set for Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

This will be the Early Access version of the game and looks set to remain the only version for the foreseeable future.

While TemTem is being planned for a number of different platforms, these won’t be available to download and play until the full release is ready.

And that’s not expected to happen until at least 2021, so there could be a long wait ahead for console gamers.

IS TEMTEM COMING TO NINTENDO SWITCH IN THE FUTURE?

There’s been a lot of questions regarding what platforms TemTem is scheduled to launch on.

The good news for handheld gamers is that TemTem is coming to Nintendo Switch, alongside PS4 and Xbox One.

The only downside is that it won’t be available for some time, although Kickstarter fans do have a few options.

Here’s the latest from developers Crema on the upcoming launch, telling fans: “Due to Temtem releasing on Early Access on PC in just a week, we need to make sure every backer has chosen their preferred platform.

“Especially if you want to swap your PC key for a console one or vice-versa. Console keys won’t be delivered until the game is fully developed and released. We don’t have a current estimation of when will that happen, but it won’t happen at least until 2021.

“If you pick a console for your key. You won’t be able to play the PC version of the game and you won’t be able to play until the console version is released.

“Even if you played the Alpha version on PC, you won’t be able to play the Early Access version if you pick console.

“PC release next week is an Early Access release. That means that the game is not yet fully completed but it will be updated frequently with new content.

“If you pick PC as a platform now to enjoy the EA release, you will be locked to PC for the final release too. No more changes will be available.

“Only backers with a tier of Alpha Hero or more ($30+) are able to change the platform. If you paid less than that you’re locked to PC.

“Discord pre-orders can’t change the platform and are tied to Discord. The Discord version of the game will be updated along with the Steam version so you’ll be able to enjoy the same content.”

Expect more news regarding TemTem in the coming days as the first user reviews go live on Steam.
