Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints Marcus Rashford injury has changed transfer plans

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that he could sign a striker this month after losing star man Marcus Rashford. The Norwegian has admitted that his transfer plans may just have changed following the diagnosis of his striker’s back problem.

Rashford is set to miss up to three months of action after sustaining a stress fracture in his back.

The England international also has a piece of floating bone in his ankle that needs removing.

Solskjaer conceded that he will have to find solutions after his side lost 2-0 to Liverpool, hinting that a few loan deals could be on the cards.

“It’s just an unfortunate situation we are in,” he told Sky Sports.

“That’s because we’ve had many injuries, if the right one is there and it will fit for us then we can buy it. If there are loans available then we might look at it.”

One deal that United are still exploring is Bruno Fernandes, despite complications with Sporting.

They are threatening to walk away from the deal, if Sporting continue to be stubborn during negotiations.

Fernandes played in what could be his last game for the club on Friday against Benfica.

But his manager Silas has explained that he expects to have Fernandes available against Braga on Wednesday barring any late twists.

“I don’t know. For now I think so [he’ll be in the squad],” he said.

“I will prepare for the game with Bruno in mind, but from here on out I don’t know what could happen. He’s a player who wants to play in a league superior to ours.

“What player wouldn’t want to play in the English league? It’s hard to tell him: ‘don’t go.’

“Bruno deserves to play in those kind of leagues and the best is that one. If he is one of the best he has to be there.”
