Is Joaquin Phoenix really going to wear the same Stella McCartney tuxedo to the Oscars and other award ceremonies? It was announced earlier that Joaquin is doing his part to reduce waste by wearing the same tux, as Suzy Kerr reported, but many are finding the idea surprising and even quirky. Joaquin is known for being true to his own beliefs and he’s already had quite an impact at the award shows. He’s encouraged many of the shows to serve vegan and plant-based fare as a way of fighting climate change and he joined celebrities like Martin Sheen and Michael Moore who are getting arrested at Jane Fonda’s Fire Drill Fridays climate change protests. Fonda has been inspired by Greta Thunberg’s protests and has sparked her own movement in Washington D.C.
Stella McCartney shared several photos of Joaquin in the tuxedo and in addition to praising him for his Golden Globe win, she gave him kudos for his commitment to fighting climate change. Some are suggesting that Joquin is taking his stance to far and shouldn’t feel that he can’t wear different suits to the events. Others agree with Stella and say that his stance should be commended.
Stella shared the following comment on her official Instagram account where she has 6.2 million followers.
