Amazon Prime has a huge number of movies and TV series, with new ones being added constantly. From series like Homecoming to old-school movies like the Star Trek canon, Amazon Prime is a great place to explore the film world. But what new movies have been added to the platform in January?

Arbitrage

Richard Gere stars in the 2012 crime drama which sees a wealthy businessman trying to hide his fraudulent ways from his family and friends.

The film gained huge plaudits from critics, with it currently holding an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though sadly the film did not gain a huge amount of awards buzz.

Fans of Gere will get to see a different side to him than the schmaltzy rom-com lead he is known as.

Arbitrage is available to stream on Amazon Prime now.

The Goonies

For some classic family fun, The Goonies is the perfect movie for parents to gather their children around the TV for.

The 1985 movie sees a group of kids gather for a final weekend together after it is revealed their homes are being repossessed, meaning they will all be split up as their families find new homes.

The band of youngsters go on a hunt for buried treasure, finding a huge number of surprises along the way.

The movie served as early roles for Lord of the Rings’ Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman and Martha Plimpton.

The Goonies is available to stream on Amazon Prime now.

Midsommar

Midsommar was the first real moment fans across the world saw Oscar nominated actress Florence Pugh in all her glory.

The movie is the second feature film from Ari Aster, the director who made Hereditary, and saw Pugh as a student traumatised by her family’s deaths.

She joins her boyfriend Christian (Jack Reynor) and his friends, played by William Jackson Harper, Vilhelm Blomgren and Will Poulter, to Sweden to experience the Midsommar festival, which happens every 90 years.

Soon, however, they are brought into the throes of a frightening cult, and forced to face some horrendous fears.

Midsommar is available to stream on Amazon Prime now.
