The iconic collaboration have been performing together for almost 10 years. However, Adam Lambert was initially “intimidated” at the thought of singing Freddie Mercury’s vocals with Queen. Now the singer has opened up on the honour and burden of such a role with Queen and Adam Lambert, at the band’s South Korean press conference this week.
Lambert said: “I’ve always said that it’s one of the greatest honours of my career to be singing the music of Queen with Queen.
“I recognise them as one of the greatest rock bands of all time and Freddie Mercury is a personal hero: as a singer, as a musician, as a performer, as a fashion icon.
“When I first started with the band I was very intimidated by the idea, because I knew that living up to these standards was going to be impossible.
“And with Roger and Brian’s help, I quickly learned that instead of imitating Freddie, or copying what Freddie did, that the key to really making this work and have some integrity, was just to look at the songs – these beautiful pieces of music – and as ways to communicate the human experience.”

The singer continued: “And to sort of be of service, to allow them to continue to perform their songs live around the world and to get this opportunity to sing for people.
“So once I got that out of my head in comparison to Freddie, I decided to start communicating that to the audience as well.
“There’s only one Freddie Mercury, there will only be one Freddie Mercury.
“And it’s such a joy to be on stage and celebrate him as an artist with Brian and Roger as this amazing band.”
Taylor added: “But there’s no doubt that Adam is one of the greatest singers in the world.
“And we’re so lucky to have found him. For us, this is an incredible discovery.
“Ten years now, I think, of working with this incredible singer, who sings our music so beautifully, so it works so well.”
While May highlighted how Queen isn’t “a dead animal, it’s very much alive” and “evolving with Adam.”
The Queen guitarist added: “Adam brings new interpretations and new life, and we do a lot of sound checks, which is very important on tour.
“It means you can keep changing things and experimenting, and thinking ‘what happened the night before, what can we change, what can we take advantage of to move ourselves forward and relate closer to the crowd’.
Queen and Adam Lambert are performing two shows this weekend in Seoul.
They’ll then head to Japan for four concerts before heading on to New Zealand and then Australia.
