Avengers Endgame: Robert Downey Jr reveals one condition for his Iron Man RETURN – WATCH

Last year, Robert Downey Jr bowed out as Iron Man with a stunning death scene in Avengers Endgame. The Tony Stark star led the MCU franchise over a decade and is now done with the role. But considering time travel played a big part in Avengers Endgame, surely the door is always open for a cameo return one day?

Downey Jr is currently promoting his new movie Dolittle and appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast where the host encouraged him to make an MCU comeback.

The comedian asked: “Is the door to Iron Man totally closed because I don’t believe it is?

“You guys can go through time now. You’ve already opened up that door.

The Iron Man star replied: “Let me ask you a question. If I pick the jersey back up and put it on, wouldn’t you feel a little bit like, ‘oh craaap.’

He added: “There would have to be a super compelling argument and a series of events that made it obvious.

“But the other thing is, I wanna do other stuff.”

Downey Jr also put it out there that: “We all have to do what [Marvel Studios boss] Kevin Feige says.”

No doubt, Feige wouldn’t ask for an Iron Man comeback unless it made total sense.

If anything, the MCU could learn from Doctor Who, which saw actors who played The Doctor bow out and then occasionally come back for a one-off episode thanks to time travel.

For the show’s 50th-anniversary special David Tennant returned three years after leaving the role and presumably will be back for the 60th-anniversary episode in 2023 too.

Give it five or 10 years and we reckon we’ll be seeing Iron Man and Captain America cameos.

After all, with time travel and the now the Marvel multiverse being explored in future movies, anything is possible.
