Lord of the Rings on Amazon cast: Who will star in the Lord of the Rings TV series?

Amazon is making a lavish series based on stories from The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The show was announced a while ago and now details are starting to emerge. Streaming platform Amazon has now shared an extensive list of actors who have signed up to the forthcoming show.

The Lord of the Rings series is going to be set in Middle Earth before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring.

The show is expected to be creating new stories within the rich world created by Tolkien.

Amazon previously confirmed J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay would be serving as showrunners on the fantasy drama.

While J.A. Bayon, whose credits include The Orphanage and Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom, will be directing the first two episodes and serving as executive producer.

Who is in the cast of the Lord of the Rings TV series?

Among the names to be cast in the show are: Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman.

Details about the characters these stars will be playing remains a mystery as work continues on the show.

Amazon has confirmed production on The Lord of The Rings series will commence in February.

Joseph Mawle

Game of Thrones alumni Joseph Mawle will be turning his attenion to Tolkien’s work after playing Benjen Stark in the George R.R. Martin epic.

His other credits include Ripper Street, Birdsong and MotherFatherSon as well as Women in Love.

Robert Aramayo

Robert Aramayo is probably best known for playing a young incarnation of Ned Stark in Game of Thrones before going on to star in Mindhunter.

He most recently finished work on Netflix series Behind Her Eyes and has also had parts in The King’s Man, Suicide Tourist and Standoff at Sparrow Creek.

Morfydd Clark

Rising star Morfydd Clark has had some high profile roles after featuring in His Dark Materials last year and more recently in BBC miniseries Dracula.

She’s also starred in Armando Iannucci’s movie The Personal History of David Copperfield.

Owain Arthur

Stage star Owain Arthur is going to be turning more to TV after roles in A Confession, Cei Bach and The Palace.

Among his theatre projects are One Man, Two Guvnors, serving as James Corden’s understudy, The History BoysRomeo and Juliet and The Comedy of Errors, among other productions.

Nazanin Boniadi

Up-and-coming actress Nazanin Boniadi is going to be appearing in the highly-antcipated Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron and Reese Witherspoon movie Bombshell.

The British-Iranian star has previously featured in Hotel Mumbai, Counterpart, Iron Man and Passengers.
