Game of Thrones: George RR Martin announces NEW book release date – Fans are FURIOUS

Surely, everyone is happy George RR Martin just announced a new publication date and it’s only a few months away? The beloved author of the Game of Thrones saga made the exciting revelation yesterday with the tagline “Happy to announce..” and fans went ballistic. And, no, not just a small and rabid section but many, many comments. You have to scroll a long way down to find anything positive. Why is everyone so angry – and what is coming in May?

The full message read: “Happy to announce that Fire & Blood, the inspiration behind the upcoming House of the Dragon, will release in paperback on May 5th in the US, Canada, and UK. This paperback edition will include 5 brand new illustrations. Pre-orders begin soon!”

For a man who understands the dark corners of the human soul so well, this message is rather misjudged.

Firstly, as numerous comments point out, if you start a message with the promise of a happy announcement, surely you have to know there is only one thing, one single thing, fans actually want?

Where is Winds of Winter?

A selection of fan replies to George Rr Martin’s announcements:

“Enough with this back story sh**.. we don’t need this. we want the Winds of Winter and the books that will complete the series. No one will care about any of HBO GOT backstory sh** after they botched up the GOT’s last season.

“Happy to announce uh? At this point you’re trolling.”

“Wow, an update no one was waiting for! You won’t get a cent from me until Winds of Winter is published.”

“I’m done with you, George. Give us the ASOIAF books finale so I can forget that shit David & Dan made.

“This isn’t the announcement I was waiting for, damnit George.”

“Nobody is going to watch the backstory series. They screwed the pooch too much with that shitty season 8. So, stop wasting your time on it and finish the damn books.”

“Ser, it is with all due respect that I echo the sentiments of countless others when I say PLEASE FINISH WINDS OF WINTER OHMYGOD.”
