Susanna Reid: Good Morning Britain star left ‘panicked’ by mother’s heartfelt plea

Susanna Reid, 49, spoke about an issue we can all relate to – how to fulfil a challenging Christmas gift request. The Good Morning Britain host and journalist explained a tricky situation she found herself in when her mother asked for something quite unusual over the festive period.

Taking to her Daily Mail column, the award winning presenter explained her dilemma.

Instead of an expensive Christmas gift, her mother asked Susanna, a mother of three boys herself, to spend more quality time with her.

The TV star, who has an incredibly busy work and social schedule, outlined the challenge in her column.

She wrote: “In a conversation in the run-up to Christmas, she was only half joking when she told me the gift she’d most like from me was time — just an hour to go for a walk in the park together.”

She went on to say that this filled her with panic – but fortunately the request turned out well for the both of them.

She continued: “I panicked. How on earth would I fit that in?

“But then I bought us film tickets and we laughed and cried sitting next to each other in the warm, dark cinema.”

“Afterwards, instead of dashing off to meet another deadline, we went for supper in a local cafe.

“That’s 20 minute per day to do nothing, other than go for a walk, switch off and – yes – stare into space.”

Her goal comes just before she revealed that she had put on half a stone over the festive period.

However, she admitted on GMB that she was in no rush to shed the extra pounds.

She told her co-host Ben Shephard:
