Smash Bros Ultimate: Big Nintendo DLC Character news and Fighters Pass 5 update

Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC news could be being planned for this week by Nintendo.

A recent rumour suggests that a second Nintendo Direct will be hosted in January and that it will be announced in the coming days.

There are still fears that the next Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC reveal could be delayed past February if news doesn’t arrive soon.

Next month is the cut-off point for Nintendo to have announced and released Fighters Pass 5 on Switch consoles.

And there have been a few clues that the game giant is getting prepared for the big reveal. This includes the latest DLC Character pass becoming available to buy.

Fans are also hoping that a string of Nintendo Switch game leaks points to an upcoming Direct event being held.

Last week saw a Pokemon Direct filled with franchise news go live and while it proved to have plenty to report, it was all based around the popular series.

So fans are now waiting to see if recent leaks and rumours prove correct and we do get a second Nintendo Direct event in January 2020.

When it comes to which character will be filling the Super Smash slot, there are still plenty of rumours being shared online.

Nothing so far from Nintendo has helped shed any light on which character will be selected for the DLC.

And without any way of working out who it might include, the possibilities remain endless, with game characters from Nintendo and other platforms possible.

One recent leak suggests that we will see No More Heroes’ Travis Touchdown announced alongside a number of new projects during a new Direct.

The rumoured Direct will also see a Shenmue 1 and 2 compilation announced as well as a port of Cruis’n Blast.

Rare Replay will also be reportedly getting a much-demanded Switch release as well as Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

One surprise addition is that of Resident Evil 7 being ported to the Nintendo Switch, alongside other games like Metro Exodus.

So far, gamers can add a total of four additional characters to the game on Nintendo Switch, including Joker, who can summon his Persona, Arsene, and power up his attacks for a limited time.

There is also The Hero from the Dragon Quest XI, complete with the Supreme Sword of Light, and Banjo & Kazooie from the Nintendo 64 generation.

Terry Bogard was the next surprise inclusion, sourced from the Fatal Fury series of fighting games.

And with February being the cut-off point for Smash Bros DLC news, fans are hoping something will be revealed soon.

Devil May Cry 3 producer Matt Walker sparked interest this week after telling fans to save some dates in the diary for some surprise news.

One of the dates Walker gave was Thursday, January 16, however, this could be completely unrelated to recent Direct rumours, which could still end up being completely false.

Last year saw Nintendo host a Direct event in February, followed by another later that month focusing on the Pokemon franchise.

In 2017, the company held a Nintendo Direct on January 11, featuring news from a number of exclusive franchises.
