Every year, movie fans all over the world pull all-nighters to watch the Oscars unfold live. Taking place in the evening in America means, for those of us in the UK, it’ll be a very late night indeed to catch all the action. With the nominations arriving soon how can UK viewers see the nominations and the ceremony itself?

What time does the Oscars nominations start in the UK?

The nominations for the Oscar will be announced in Los Angeles at 5.18am, Pacific Time (PT).

This is the same time as every year, and will mean the nominations come out at 1.18pm GMT.

Luckily, the nominations are at a far more palatable time for UK viewers than those in the USA.

How can UK viewers watch the Oscars nominations 2020?

The Oscars 2020 nominations are available to stream online via the Academy Awards’ official website, as well as on their social media accounts.

As well as this, many media outlets are expected to be reporting on the nominations as they takes place, meaning fans can likely tune in to any news channel to watch it there, or at least find out the nominees.

When is The Oscars 2020 ceremony?

The nominations will be a precursor for the ceremony itself, which will be on February 9, starting at 5pm (PT)

This means, for UK viewers operating on GMT, the ceremony begins at 11.30pm.

How can UK viewers watch The Oscars ceremony?

The Oscars will be shown in the USA on ABC, and last year UK viewers were able to tune in via Sky Cinema and NOW TV.

Last year, the Oscars’ All Access: Red Carpet Live was also streamed live on Twitter exclusively, while the E! UK Twitter page also hosted their own coverage.

At present, it has not been confirmed whether a UK broadcaster will show the ceremony, but it is likely most UK broadcasters will at least have highlights to show on the morning after.

Who is likely to win at the Oscars 2020?

According to Betway, Parasite is currently second favourite to swipe the Best Picture win, sharing its betting spot with Sam Mendes’ 1917.

While they share 3/1 odds, storming ahead as the most likely to win the top spot is Quentin Tarantino’s love letter to Tinseltown, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is sitting at 7/4.

Joker is doing better than The Irishman for the Oscar race, sitting at 6/1 odds from Betway, while its rival has 7/1 odds.

As their nominations have not yet been released, it is trickier to tell which movies could bag the big prize.

Other movies in the running are Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit, both sitting at 25/1, while at 50/1 are Just Mercy, Little Women and A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood.

None of these films have entirely lit up the awards season yet, with only Laura Dern of Marriage Story getting a look in from these movies.

The Oscar nominations will be released on January 13, ahead of the ceremony on February 9
